Welcome to Part Two of my first Law of Attraction blog series. As I said in Part One, this first blog series will hopefully give you an overview of where the law of attraction has been, where it’s going, and what it can do for you. My intention, if you desire, is for this blog to help everything else make sense, and to make your journey to understanding all of this Universal knowledge a lot more logical.
Now, if you paid attention in part one, you should pretty well have at least an idea of what the law of attraction actually is, and how it works… scientifically speaking anyway. That’s right, the law of attraction describes the flow of energy between a person and the universe. As you now know, positive thoughts, attitudes, and feelings draw positive energy from the universe, while negative beliefs, thoughts, and feelings vibrate to attract negative results.
So, the question remains, where did the law of attraction come from? Well, as stated in Part One, the law of attraction has literally been around since the beginning of time, and we know that it is not some new concept, or a trendy thought. The law of attraction is really old news… so old, in fact, that it’s quite literally, ancient news.
With all of that said, it’s really important to remember that the law of attraction ‘is’ a universal law, meaning; The law of attraction is a principle that applies to the entire universe and is considered to be the foundation of being and nature. I’ll talk about the universal laws more in detail in coming blogs.
At this point, is when I began to ask the question, “who discovered the law of attraction?” Was it one person or a group? How the heck did they even figure it out? …and even though it has always existed, someone had to “discover” it (or at least give it its name) so that it could be passed on through the generations, right? Well, who exactly was it?
Hmm, good question.
The answer is… this isn’t a “one person” discovery. In fact, people just started using it, consciously or unconsciously. The law of attraction just worked for them, so they passed on their methods to their children, and so on through the centuries. Artists, musicians, scholars, leaders, and ordinary people were smart enough to recognize and use this flow of the universe to their advantage. Believe it or not, the history of the Law of Attraction can actually be traced through ancient times through the teaching of many eastern teachers. For example, Buddha spoke of this Law when he told us that, “All that we are is the result of what we have thought.”
I’m sure you have heard of Jesus… yup, even Jesus himself also spoke of our power to create when he instructed us in the way to apply this Universal Law. I can picture him now, saying “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” Mark 11:24
Also, in the book of Mathew the Bible offers us these words, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” And, “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.”
When you study the history of the Law of Attraction, you will find no actual reference to this Law by name, but you will find many references and examples of how you apply a creative principle so that a desired experience can be brought to life. We call this, “manifestation.”
One of my favorite biblical Law of Attraction quotes is found in the book of Philippians; “I think and speak positive. I focus on what is good. I refuse to fear or dwell on the negative.”
But when it comes to the history of the Law of Attraction and the first use of the actual phrase, we would have to look to a chapter entitled ‘The Unknowable” in Helen Blatvatsky’s book, Isis Unveiled, which was published in 1887.
We can also look into composers such as Mozart and artists you love and respect. They attracted beautiful and healing music and art into their lives… and we share in the benefits, just as the universe intends. Also, if we were to look at the teachings, thoughts, or poetry of all of those who we have considered to be great figures, both present and past, we would see that they all have at least one thing in common, their belief and application of the law of attraction. Sure, I get it, maybe we don’t all agree on who the most brilliant men and women were, for example, there are those who think Albert Einstein was a genius and others who think he is highly overrated crazy man. But no matter what you think of him, he understood the law of attraction. Go get some books, or get online and investigate Socrates and Ben Franklin, research Oprah, Will Smith, Jim Carey, and even Arnold Schwarzenegger and and you will see how they all talk about the law of attraction. The list of famous, successful people who are talking about the power of the law of attraction is endless.
We can seethe law of attraction at work in our everyday lives. Every time we turn on the television, talk to a friend, or just reflect on our personal lives, we’re dealing with the law of attraction. It’s everywhere and always in action, whether positive or negative.
I see motivational speakers all the time talk about the power of being positive and associating with positive, like-minded people to help us achieve success. Even if they don’t use the word, these speakers are actually talking about the law of attraction… you know, the whole “birds of a feather flock together” thing.
For example… let’s take a look at an inspirational speaker and multiple Tour de France winner, Lance Armstrong. Lance Armstrong always leaves his audiences filled with energy and hope at the end of every presentation. His “positive vibe” is downright infectious. Unfortunately, that hope and happiness often wears off after a few days because those who attended don’t tap into their positive energy sources. They fall back into their negative mindset and nothing really changes in their lives.
Let’s not forget all of the athletes out there who are taking full advantage of the law of attraction by focusing their minds every day on winning. Listen for yourself as one of the best mixed martial artists in the world, Connor McGreggor, talks about the law of attraction, as he says calm and as a matter of fact, “If you have a clear picture in your head that something is going to happen and a clear belief that it will happen no matter what then nothing can stop it. It is destined to happen. It’s perfect. It’s the powerful law of attraction, and you need to appreciate your surroundings and be grateful for it, and that’s when good things happen. To have that bitterness and negativity, that’s when things go bad. I think the fact that I appreciate everything and that I’m grateful for the things around me, that’s why it’s going so good for me. This is the law of attraction. But here is the struggle, when things are going good and you visualise good things happening , that’s easy. What’s not easy is to do is when things are going bad and you’re visualising the good stuff. And that’s what I was able to do. … Visualising good things in times of struggle, when you can do that, that really makes the law of attraction work.”
So the trick to his to keep the positive energy going, to send calm vibrations out to the universe, and to focus only on the things that you desire and the things that you have in your life that you are thankful for, so that in return you’ll receive the things you really want. I mean, just imagine, a habit that allows you to design your own reality and create your own success story simply by “attracting” the experiences you want to have in your life. This is all very possible simply by using the law of attraction.
Coming up, in the next blog, let’s dive deeper into your life, and your personal power. This is when it gets fun! For now, stay thankful, and stay happy.
Abundance is yours,
